This year, instead of a cooking demo in one of our kitchens, our meeting was at Detroit Vegan Soul Cafe. We did not have to go far, they are in the Villages on Angus just west of Parker. The meeting started at 7:30pm with time to gather and have a short business meeting. We discussed upcoming events: Daffodil Day on April 15, our Annual Pancake Breakfast on April 18, and the Indian Village Streetlight Fundraiser on April 26.
The cooking demonstration started at 8:00pm. Owners Kirsten Ussery Boyd and Erika Boyd showed us how to make a delicious and healthy sesame tofu salad. Ample samples of the salad, kale coconut spring rolls and cupcakes were enjoyed by all. Wine and sweet tea were also served.
This was a great opportunity to get an inside view a new business in our neighborhood. I am sure DVS earned a number of new customers today.
