Waste for east-side residents will be picked up the first and third Fridays of each month through the first week in December. 5/3/13 (Friday) to 5/31/13 (Friday) -- 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. -- Detroit Waldorf School presents its parent/child program at the school for children ages twelve months to three years old accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Participants should meet at the Belle Isle Casino and wear boots and bring gloves; rakes, picks and garbage bags will be provided. 5/4/13 (Saturday) -- 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. -- Gentle, slow flow yoga class downstairs in the youth pit at Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church for all ages and abilities. Items that can be recycled at the site include paper, cardboard, glass, metal, plastics, Styrofoam, aseptic, batteries, plastic bags and printer cartridges. 5/11/13 (Saturday) -- 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. -- Iroquois Avenue Christ Lutheran Church invites everyone to drop off gently used clothing, shoes, towels and bedding for the church's clothes closet, the proceeds of which are sorted and distributed to area residents.
