12/3/18 (Monday) — 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. — Villages security meeting at Iroquois Avenue Christ Lutheran Church, covering Indian Village, West Village, Berry Sub and other Villages neighborhoods.

12/3/18 (Monday) — 7 p.m. — IVA block captains’ meeting at the Iroquois Avenue Christ Lutheran Church.

12/3/18 (Monday) — 7 p.m. — IVA board meeting at the Iroquois Avenue Christ Lutheran Church.

12/4/18 (Tuesday) to 12/11/18 (Tuesday) — 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. — Detroit Waldorf School presents its parent/child program at the school for children ages 2.5 to 4 years old accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Each class includes free time, circle time and puppet plays.

12/5/18 (Wednesday) — 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. — The West Village Association invites its neighbors to a night of holiday festivities in the parlor of the Parkstone Apartments, 1415 Parker Street. It’s a potluck event, so attendees are asked to bring their favorite dish to pass. Activities include both a photo booth and an upcycled ornament station for capturing everyone’s creative side. Neighbors are asked to bring old craft supplies so everyone can make decorations or ornaments out of materials that otherwise would be thrown away.

12/6/18 (Thursday) to 12/13/18 (Thursday) — 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. — Detroit Waldorf School presents its parent/child program at the school for children ages 2.5 to 4 years old accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Each class includes free time, circle time and puppet plays.

12/7/18 (Friday) — GFL Environmental will pick up trash.

12/7/17 (Friday) — 7 p.m. — Indian Village Woman’s Garden Club Indian Village VIP Holiday Tour, an exclusive and intimate evening inside four Indian Village homes decorated for the holiday season. The event includes a progressive dinner, open bar and desserts.

12/7/18 (Friday) — 7:30 p.m. — The Community Chorus of Detroit will perform Gloria: A Concert for Peace at Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church.

12/8/18 (Saturday) — 10 a.m. to 12 noon — Iroquois Avenue Christ Lutheran Church invites everyone to drop off gently used clothing, shoes, towels and bedding for the church’s clothes closet, the proceeds of which are sorted and distributed to area residents. Men’s women’s and children’s clothes are needed; toiletries, including travel samples, also are welcomed.

12/8/18 (Saturday) — 4 p.m. — The Community Chorus of Detroit will perform Gloria: A Concert for Peace at Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church.

12/9/17 (Sunday) — 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. — Indian Village Woman’s Garden Club annual Indian Village Christmas Walk. Tour five neighborhood homes decorated for the holidays. Tours leave at 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. from Iroquois Avenue Christ Lutheran Church; an experienced docent leads each group of 25.

Adult volunteers work one-on-one at the church with Nichols School students in the second through fifth grades, helping them improve their math and reading skills. Snack, art and gym activities also are part of the weekly program.

12/18/18 (Tuesday) — 6:30 p.m. — Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church invites its neighbors to its second annual Carols, Coneys, Cocoa and Carillon at the church, hosted by the JAPC Music Series. The free family event includes coneys and cocoa, holidays sweets and a sing-a-long with the church’s Skinner organ accompanying carolers and the church’s chancel choir.

12/21/18 (Friday) — GFL Environmental will pick up trash.

12/24/18 (Monday) — 4 p.m. — Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church invites everyone to its family Christmas Eve service. The service is not limited to families and children but to anyone who prefers an earlier time.

12/24/18 (Monday) — 6 p.m. — Iroquois Avenue Christ Lutheran Church invites everyone to its candlelight Christmas Eve service.

12/24/18 (Monday) — 10 p.m. — Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church invites everyone to its Christmas Eve candlelight service, preceded by a musical prelude at 9:30 p.m.

12/29/18 (Saturday) — GFL Environmental will pick up trash, bulk waste and recyclables.
