4/3/17 (Monday) to 5/15/17 (Monday) — 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. — Detroit Waldorf School presents its parent/child program at the school for children ages twelve months to three years old, accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Activities include outdoor play, circle time (songs, finger play, games, nursery rhymes), snack preparation, free play, crafts and stories. Cost is $200 for the 6-week session (no class 4/17/17).

4/3/17 (Monday) — 7 p.m. — HIVA security and block captains’ meetings at the Iroquois Avenue Christ Lutheran Church.

4/4/17 (Tuesday) — 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. — Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church’s Tutoring TREE program at the church. The program includes a snack, tutoring, art and gym for Nichols School students in the second through fifth grades. Adult volunteers are needed to work with children one on one in reading and math.

4/5/17 (Wednesday) — 7 p.m. — West Village Association monthly meeting at the Metro Central Church of Christ, 1511 Van Dyke.

4/7/17 (Friday) — GFL Environmental will pick up trash, bulk waste and recyclables.

4/7/17 (Friday) — 6:30 p.m. — Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church invites everyone to watch a free family movie in the church basement.

4/8/17 (Saturday) — 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. — Detroit Waldorf School invites everyone to a Wellness at Waldorf program at Detroit’s historic Eastern Market. Participants will meet at Shed 5 to take a walking tour of each of the market’s sheds, meet vendors and discuss seasonal foods; at 10 a.m., participants will watch a healthy cooking demonstration at the market’s community kitchen.

4/8/17 (Saturday) — 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon — Iroquois Avenue Christ Lutheran Church invites everyone to drop off gently used clothing, shoes, towels and bedding for the church’s clothes closet, the proceeds of which are sorted and distributed to area residents. Men’s women’s and children’s clothes are needed; toiletries, including travel samples, also are welcomed.

4/9/17 (Sunday) — 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. — Annual HIVA Easter egg hunt in the Centennial Garden at the corner of Charlevoix and Seminole. Children will receive an Easter basket and have the opportunity to hunt for eggs.
